Long absence, new words

Haven't been updating for several years, but plan to try to pick up on this a bit.

I'll just jump right in. New canning statistics for this year--168 jars of jam and fruit preserves equaling over 16 gallons.

I've been traveling so much for work, but we have learned ways to schedule canning and preserving. This year we have so many pears--those tiny trees are beginning to yield fruit! We've put up 17 quarts of pears (each containing 6-9 pears, depending upon the size of the pears)!

Our fig trees, which we babied for many, many years, are also beginning to produce good crops. I was able to make 16 jars of jam and have many quarts of figs frozen as well. We also, of course, ate a bunch of them fresh!
